1960 -
Louis Mazetier is originally from Aubusson in France. He started playing the piano at the age of 7, then discovered jazz at the age of 14 and the great masters of Stride Piano, whose playing style he started to imitate. In Paris, he met François Rilhac with whom he set up a piano duet in the 80s. He also collaborated with other pianists such as Neville Dickie, Dick Hyman and Bernd Lhotzky. At the same time, he leads a career as a soloist and plays in various formations, notably alongside Gilbert Leroux. Since 1988 he plays with the group "Paris Washboard".
A great specialist in "pre-bebop" jazz piano, Louis Mazetier is today considered one of the most worthy representatives of the Stride Piano style throughout the world. His playing, lively and very melodic, is directly influenced by the first jazz pianists, but also by other more modern musicians like Art Tatum, Duke Ellington or Teddy Wilson.
