Jimmy Blythe was a very prolific pianist and took an active part in the musical live of his time. He accompanied many jazz artists and led a great number of recording sessions.
He was a boogie woogie pioneer but was able to play many other piano styles like stride piano. From the early 20’s, he recorded hundreds of piano rolls which are an important testimony of his piano playing. His title "Chicago Stomp", recorded in 1924 is considered to be one the very first boogie woogie of all time.
